Shame on sleaze elements of New Orleans

In the aftermath of hurricane Katrina, I can understand the need to loot stores for the essentials: food, water, milk, diapers, etc. There’s no one to sell these to you even if you wanted. But beer, jewelry, guns, and electronics? Not only is this totally offensive, it even makes no sense. What good is a TV if there is no power to use it? What do you do with warm beer? The police now have to split their time between saving lives and protecting property. And the armed gunmen make it near impossible for them to do an effective job at either.

I’ve always thought that New Orleans was a dump that was living off its reputation. Now my bleakest opinion has been confirmed.
