A loaf of bread, a jug of wine, and broadband

This week I have been at a conference in the UK where I had virtually no contact with the outside world. No broadband. No dialup. No phone. No TV. It gave me a great chance to read, walk, and run. But it kept me out of touch with the rest of the world.

Amy and I often joke about which would we give up first: DSL or TiVo. It’s a hard decision, but we would grudgingly give up TiVo before DSL. How did we survive before broadband?

It’s wonderful to get away, but I definitely miss the creature comforts of home. Not to mention a good burrito, too. England is a great place for a diet because anything affordable is inedible.

You didn’t indulge in lots of bad, cheap, "Indian" (cooked by Bangladeshi chefs)?

Wish I could. Was stuck eating English dormitory food.
