Nelson to McBride: Ha-ha!
About three months ago, I wrote about SCO, which is trying to shakedown money from Linux users. SCO currently owns some rights to Unix, and they have an outrageous claim that Linux developers stole source code from Unix and appropriated it for the open-source Linux project. Linux creator Linus Torvalds has disproved these claims numerous times. No matter to SCO; they just want to bully Linux users into paying them.
The good news: virtually no one is paying SCO. Today, SCO reported that they earned $11,000 in licensing fees but spent $4.4 million in legal fees last quarter.
As I reflect upon these bully tactics, I think about another bully, Nelson Muntz from The Simpsons. In my imagination, Nelson gives McBride a wedgie and sneers “HA-HA!”
