Last week, I took the new Volvo V70 to the dealer for the first scheduled service at 7,500 miles. Since our car was originally a 2003 demo, the dealer agreed to pay the first maintenance. While there, I asked about the cost of the next maintenance at 15,000 miles. The dealer explained that it was a very major service with all sorts of checks and inspections, and eventually told me that it would cost $290.
Going home, I checked to see what is scheduled for the 15,000 mile maintenance. Seems like just an oil change and inspection. Even with the “free” car wash and rental car, that’s definitely not worth $290, even at San Francisco prices. Next time, the car is going to an independent Volvo garage.
